Laser Treatments
State of the art technology, combined with a caring and attentive approach.
Pharos Excimer
Pharos is a powerful, single-wavelength, xenon-chlorine, 308 nm ultraviolet-B excimer laser used treat chronic skin diseases, including psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and leukoderma. Pharos does not use heat and does not ablate lesions, and treatments are generally painless. Pharos’ proprietary hand piece features an integrated adjustable spot size and aiming beam that accurately targets only the diseased tissue while sparing the healthy skin from exposure. The laser beam is easily contoured to accommodate the shape of the lesion for fast and precisely targeted treatments with constant fluence.
Pharos offers significant benefits to patients. The targeted nature of Pharos treatment allows the operator to spare healthy tissue from exposure to the ultraviolet light making the treatment faster and safer than some other forms of phototherapy, or light therapy. Treatment with Pharos differs from topical treatments, such as steroids and vitamin D derivatives, which may require frequent ongoing application. Treatment with Pharos also differs from pharmaceuticals treatments, which may be associated with systemic side effects.
eMatrix
eMatrix skin resurfacing is an FDA-approved, fractional radio frequency treatment that gently resurfaces the skin over 4 to 5 treatments. It tightens loose skin and reduces the appearance of mild to moderate wrinkles, acne scarring and stretch marks. It also helps reduce pore size and improves the overall texture and tone of the skin.
During the treatment each pulse delivers the radio frequency energy via a grid of small matrix dots, inducing a skin injury which is maximized in these tiny, targeted areas. Collagen and elastin production are stimulated by the energy in these targeted areas in the deeper layers of the skin which results in a smoother, tighter and more refined appearance of the treated areas.
eMatrix treatment is somewhat uncomfortable but is made more tolerable with the application of topical anesthetic in the office 30 minutes prior to the procedure.
With treatment, mild to moderate swelling, crusting and redness of the skin typically lasts about 48 hours. A residual slight rough texture of the skin then tends to resolve over the next 3-5 days. Make-up can be applied after the first 48 hours.
On average, most results appear over a period of three to six months, as it takes time for new collagen to be produced. However, some patients notice results within the first few weeks after treatment.
Superficial Blood Vessels
Small, red blood vessels on the face and nose (telengectasias) are usually a part of a condition known as rosacea. These blood vessels are often difficult to hide with makeup and usually worsen with heat, spicy foods, alcohol and sun exposure.
The Long-pulsed ND: YAG laser is an excellent treatment option for these stubborn and unsightly blood vessels. Treatment typically takes no more than a few minutes and is not particularly painful, especially when topical anesthetic is used. Treatments are usually performed on a monthly basis until the desired effect is obtained. Most patients see significant improvement after only a single treatment
Price: $250 – $500 per treatment depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Laser Hair Removal
Hair removal is a constant worry for many men and women alike. For patients who are sick of the hassle associated with shaving, waxing and other temporary hair removal techniques, laser hair removal may be the solution for you. Laser hair removal exposes specific areas of the body to beams of laser light that disable active hair follicles and delay or prevent re-growth.
Laser hair removal is ideal for patients with dark hair and light skin, although nearly anyone with unwanted facial or body hair can benefit from this procedure. This procedure can be performed on the lip, chin, neck, back, arms, legs, bikini area and more.
Since hairs grow at different times, multiple treatments will be needed for all patients at intervals of four to six weeks. The number of sessions depends on several factors, including your hair and skin color, hormone levels, and hair follicle size. The average patient sees up to a 48% reduction in hair growth after three treatments, and up to 80% after six to eight treatments.
Price: $175 – $550 per treatment depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Phototherapy
We perform various types of phototherapy to in include UVA, PUVA and Narrow-band UVB to treat a variety of skin conditions.
Narrow-band UVB phototherapy involves shining ultraviolet light on the skin to treat psoriasis and other chronic skin conditions. It is an easier and safer alternative to PUVA treatment (psoralen plus UVA phototherapy). As its name suggests, the light that is used in narrow-band UVB phototherapy is a very specific range of wavelengths in the ultraviolet spectrum – just 311 to 312 nm – that has been shown to most effectively slow the rapid growth of cells and improve the symptoms of psoriasis.
Patients generally receive phototherapy treatments three times per week for about 10 weeks. Exposure time begins at a few seconds and increases with each session. Session lengths are tailored to the patient’s skin type and tolerance. After the skin has cleared, UVB phototherapy may be continued to prolong remission time, or patients may undergo other psoriasis treatments to minimize their exposure to ultraviolet light.
Price: Phototherapy is usually covered by insurance; however, coverage varies among insurances and individual plans.
